Jeep unveils Wrangler Scrambler SRT concept with V8 power and a first-ever independent front suspension for Wrangler

The orange pickup concept is the first desert-performance Jeep concept to wear an SRT badge, and Stellantis has already named it the brand's new halo.

A Wrangler with 14 inches of front travel

The Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept has an all-new independent front suspension, described as a historic first for Wrangler. [1] If you follow Jeep or desert racing, that is the headline change: the setup is meant to improve stability, steering precision and wheel control for high-speed off-road driving. [1]

Tim Kuniskis unveiled the concept on a Monday in Las Vegas at SEMA. [2] It is described as the first high-speed, desert-performance Jeep concept to wear an SRT badge, and it is described as V8-powered. [1]

Suspension and hardware

The front suspension is a bespoke high-travel system developed with off-road racing champion Casey Currie. [1] The concept has 14 inches of front travel and 15 inches of rear travel. [2] The shocks are Fox 2.5-inch units at all four corners. [2]

Out back, the concept has a trophy-truck-inspired rear axle, a heavy-duty wheel package and desert-racing-informed hardware. [1] It rides on beadlock wheels and 37-inch off-road mud-terrain tires from BFGoodrich. [2]

Kuniskis said the concept is overbuilt and engineered around the idea that the desert can be as demanding as a racetrack. [1] He also said the original Scrambler became an icon because it broke the rules. [1]

Body, bed and seats

The concept starts from a Jeep Wrangler chassis, and designers and engineers reshaped it from the A-pillar rearward. [1] The changes include longer doors, custom rear bodywork, an integrated pickup bed, a redesigned tailgate, unique fender flares and a structural roll cage. [1]

It wears Punk'n orange paint and the Jeep sharknose front end, which was first introduced on a concept at the 2026 Easter Jeep Safari. [1]

The rear seating is 180-degree reversible and removable, enabling quick transitions between passenger and cargo configurations. [1] The seats clip into floor-mounted hooks, and can be removed entirely or rotated to create rear-facing seating. [1] Removing them opens the full bed for camping gear, motorcycles and other adventure equipment. [1]

Where it fits in the Stellantis plan

Stellantis announced in May that the Scrambler SRT will join the Jeep lineup as part of a five-year plan and will sit as the brand's new halo. [3] It is set to be one of the headliners of a Stellantis turnaround plan that includes 60 new vehicles and 50 refreshes by 2030. [2]

What it means for you

If you want a Wrangler built for fast desert driving, this concept is the Jeep to watch, because Stellantis says the Scrambler SRT will join the lineup. [1][3]

If you haul gear, the seat layout is the detail to check: the rear seats can come out entirely to open the full bed for camping gear and motorcycles. [1] If you are a Wrangler owner, the independent front suspension is the first of its kind for the model. [1]
